Indonesian Chronicles - Day 9, 21/8/2018 Impressions, Facts & Stories

We dive in Panangbay, Bali. It has been over a year since we have not been in the water and we reacquaint ourselves with the heavy (when on earth) gear of the modern diver and the subtle buoyancy which makes us float between layers of ocean, light and free. This is a world of slowness and hyper presence, moment of undivided attention on your breathing and your diving companion, eyes wide open to the underwater world.

T. and A. are in their element and have been since they we did the PADI together in the Philippines 3 years ago. L. is an experienced diver. I battle old fears as I resume diving. A long list of ‘what ifs’ play in my head the night before. I discreetly substitute a PADI refresher training course to my bedtime reading. I hit the water and my fears evaporate, even when my mask fills up with water at 19 meters. Thank god for my diving refresher course.
